Every Friday afternoon, Ms. Fisher's third-grade class receives a surprise... A Mystery Reader comes to class to read aloud to the students.  This person is kept TOP SECRET as students receive clues throughout the week to help them guess which family member will be arriving!

Under the direction of parent-coaches Dino Kourelis and Mike Watkins, the 8U (division champions  ) and 11U Skinner Superstar teams won the 2018 JFL Junior Flag-Football League Superbowl Championship. Congratulations to the following Skinner Students:

The Spooky Skinner Ball, on Friday, Oct. 26, is the favorite family event of the school year. We are looking for volunteers to help make this year's ball another great one! Parents, please signup to help decorate the gym, run games at the event, and more.

Get Involved with PTO: joining the PTO is a great way to get involved with Skinner West. We meet once a month to plan community-building events, run fundraising programs, and help fulfill school and teacher needs. You can get involved by attending PTO meetings, joining a planning committee, volunteering for an event, or becoming a PTO officer. Officer elections our coming up at our next meeting on Nov. 27 at 6 pm in the library. You can donate to the PTO any time here.

A huge congratulations to second-grade teacher Ms. Ward and seventh-grade teacher Ms. Christiansen for running in the 41st annual Chicago Marathon. Congratulations Ms. Ward and Ms. Christiansen!

Bring your little ghost or goblin to Skinner West PTO's Spooky Skinner Ball on Friday, October 26. The fun will begin right after school, with music, costumes, games, and snacks. This event is for grades K-6, and upper grade students are invited to volunteer. We are also looking for parent volunteers to help decorate the gym, run games at the event and more.  MartinClassroom Connection: Mrs. Martin
This month, Mrs. Martin's first grade class is reading Charlotte's Web out loud.  One day last week, the children were surprised by their very own web in the classroom!  The kids were so excited to see what the words said - some pig!  When the book is complete, the students will participate in a culminating activity with a Charlotte's Web celebration day! The students will dress up as their favorite character from the book and watch the movie

 GoCPSGoCPS Application Now Open
The GoCPS application process is now open.  The GoCPS is a platform for parents and students to apply to all Selective Enrollment High Schools, Selective Enrollment Elementary Schools, and Magnet schools, among other.  The application is open October 1 - December 14 and can be found hereAll Open House dates can be found here.
